Task Dependencies and Scheduling
Set up task dependencies and use the Gantt chart for scheduling.
Task Dependencies and Scheduling
Dependencies define the order in which tasks must be completed, preventing work from starting before prerequisites are done.
Setting Up Dependencies
- Open a task
- Look for the **Dependencies** section
- Click **Add Dependency**
- Select the task that must be completed first
- The current task becomes "blocked" until the dependency is done
How Dependencies Work
- A task with unfinished dependencies shows as **BLOCKED**
- When all dependencies are completed, the task automatically becomes available
- Dependencies are visible on the Gantt chart as connecting lines
Using the Gantt Chart
The **Plan** page provides a Gantt chart view: - Each task appears as a horizontal bar showing its timeline - Dependencies are shown as arrows between tasks - Drag bars to adjust dates - Color coding indicates task status - Zoom in/out to see daily, weekly, or monthly views
Scheduling Tips
- Set realistic start and end dates for each task
- Use dependencies to enforce the correct work sequence
- Review the critical path — the longest chain of dependent tasks
- Adjust schedules when delays occur to see downstream impact
