Material Takeoffs and Measurements

Create material takeoffs from plans and measurements for accurate estimation.

Material Takeoffs and Measurements

Takeoffs help you calculate material quantities from project plans and measurements.

What is a Takeoff?

A takeoff is the process of measuring and counting materials needed for a project from blueprints or plans.

Creating a Takeoff

  1. Go to **Takeoffs** from the sidebar
  2. Click **Create Takeoff**
  3. Upload your plans or blueprints
  4. Use the measurement tools to calculate quantities

Measurement Tools

  • **Linear**: Measure lengths for materials like trim, piping, wire
  • **Area**: Measure square footage for flooring, paint, roofing
  • **Count**: Count items like outlets, fixtures, windows

Using Takeoffs in Estimates

  1. Complete your measurements
  2. Link the takeoff to an estimate
  3. Material quantities flow into estimate line items
  4. Pricing is calculated based on takeoff quantities

Tips for Accurate Takeoffs

  • Scale your plans correctly before measuring
  • Add waste factors (typically 10-15%)
  • Group measurements by trade or material type
  • Double-check critical measurements
